#MomLife

Long story short:

Mother: Nurturer, caregiver, protector of children.

Rogue: “Someone who acts wayward from the usual group…”

Mother Rogue: Me. A mom who gave custody to her son to his dad during our divorce and moved from Hackensack, NJ to Boston, MA.

I thought I’d lost my son.

His dad thought he’d get peace with his ex-wife living 210 miles away.

My son thought he’d get away with whatever he wanted because his parents wouldn’t talk.

None of that happened.

This is what did.

  • I thought special education advocacy would feel different when the student wasn’t my son. It doesn’t. Once you read the evaluations, spot the gaps, and understand what’s at stake, the paperwork becomes a child. IEPs aren’t easier from the other side of the table. You just care anyway.
